One type of brackish fish is known as the Black Lyretail Molly. There are two different types of these that you can place in your brackish tank. One of which is black in color and the other fish is silver in color. They are other types of mollies that you can purchase as well such as the Dalmatian Molly. This fish is black and white in color. Mollies will reach abou three inches long and you will need at least a 5 gallon tank to keep one of these fish alive and well. If you want to purchase more fish you will need to purchase a larger fish tank.
You will need to keep the temperature somewhere between 70 and 80 degrees. You will need to purchase a heater for your fish tank to make sure that the water doesn't get too cool. You will also want to make sure that the water doesn't get too warm. You will need to place the light on a timer so that the light comes on and off when you are gone. You will want to set the timer to come on for about 6 hours. This way your water will not get heated up by the light on your fish tank.
If you want to purchase the Black Lyretail Molly you can find them at any local Petco. You will need to ask them if they keep their Mollies in a brackish tank. If you give you a weird look or tell you no, you will need to purchase this fish somewhere else. If they do not have the right fish in the right conditions than the fish will become stressed out and probably die once you have the fish in your fish tank. This fish could then get the rest of your fish sick as well. When it comes to feeding this fish you will want to purchase fish flakes and different types of frozen foods such as brine shrimp.

Post a CommentWe have recently added a black and a silver molly to our 30 gal. tank. we have 6 serpae tetras and 2 rasboras. At this time we have no salt in the water, what effect will having brackish water have on the tetras and raboras?
