Black Ops Zombies "Ascension" Mystery Man Easter Egg

Matthew Hotaling
The complete facts about "The Gersh Device Conspiracy" have finally come to light. I have successfully completed all of the steps needed to release the Mystery man from the capsule in Black Ops Zombie Ascension.

Through vast Internet research and hours of searching for enough competent players to finally complete the ultimate easter egg, I bring to all Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombie fans, "The Complete Guide to Black Ops Zombies Ascension Mega Easter Egg of Insanity!"

Rumors Debunked!Let us first shoot down some rumors that have been flying around about the mega-easter egg in Ascension. I hate to burst everyone's bubble but there will be no upgraded PPSH after completing this easter egg. I know having a Reaper to play around with would have been diabolical, but it will not happen in this map.

There are only 3 Lunar Landers in the map. There was a rumor of another lunar lander that would take you to another section of the map after all parts of the easter egg were complete but this is not true.

You do not have to destroy the rocket, but you might as well for the Double Points that falls from the sky. Originally thought to be an essential step of the process, the rocket does not have to be destroyed at all.

One more rumor that needs to be debunked here and has been debunked is that there will be no boss fight Samantha or Dr. Maxis. This would stay untrue to the way Zombie mode works anyway, but it was definitely a cool idea and maybe with enough input from fans, Treyarch would consider a Boss fight in the next Black Ops Zombies map.Gersh Device

Activate The Power Switch
In order to be able to open up all the doors and gates, activate the lunar landers, and perform most any part of this easter egg; you are going to need to activate the Power switch. You can take two different routes to the power switch and when you arrive there you will find the first Mystery Box. Let's hope you get a Gersh Device, or at least a fancy Ray Gun!

Equipment Needed

1.

The first route you can take is to go through the bottom door and then upstairs which I do not recommend. This is because you may get distracted by the Mystery Box and forget to save enough money to by the gate to the PhD Flopper camping grounds.

The second route to the power is the best route in my opinion. Open the door on the top and head to the right and open up the gate across from PhD Flopper; heading into the building on the right and upstairs to the room that holds the Power switch and turn it on.

Ride All 3 Lunar Landers
Once you have turned on the Power switch you will need to activate all 3 Lunar Landers. I'll assume everyone knows where they are (PhD Flopper, Claymore, Scythe areas) and that you need to ride them back to the refueling station downstairs, every time.

Now that you have taken a ride on all of the Lunar Landers, you will be able to launch the rocket. Head up to the power switch and you will notice a green button that says "press X to activate", but do not press it just yet! I know it's like telling someone not to hit that "Big Red Button" in the cartoons, right?
You are going to need to use the Mystery Box enough times until someone in your party gets a Gersh Device. Once someone has the Gersh Device, head over to the stairs to the PhD Flopper camping grounds and look outside of the map. You will notice what looks like a battery (Power node 1).

Activate Ascension Power node No. 1

If you go inside the room where PhD Flopper is and head to the back corner by the window, take a moment of silence and listen carefully. Do you hear that whistling? That whistling is your clue to where the power nodes will need to be activated!

Break out your Gersh Device and head back to the barriers at the bottom of the stairs. This is where you have your best shot at correctly placing the Black Hole Bomb. When you throw the Gersh Device, make sure it lands right behind the flashing battery/power node or Samantha will steal it. You can tell this happens when you see your bomb disappear into a flash of lightning and you can hear Samantha laugh.

If you get the Gersh Device placed properly, the black hole will suck in the Power node, which activates the process of setting the Mystery Man free. You will hear the Mystery Man thank you for activating "The Device" and also that it needs more power.

Activate The Computer
Now gather up your party and head over past Stamin-Up, to the lunar lander by the Claymore Mines. Underneath the broken set of stairs is the Computer you need to turn on. If you notice on the screen there will be a Triangle with an eye in it, kind of like the one on the back of a $1 dollar bill. Hear that whistling sound again? I bet you do!

Press the "X" button on the Computer to turn it on, and once again you will hear the Mystery man telling you what to do (more like a riddle I guess). Now it's time for some Monkey action! Power node 1 activated for the Kassimir Mechanism, but it will need more power he says!

Activate The Power node!
It's time to get funky with some Outer Space Monkeys! No seriously, this step must be done on a Monkey Round, no exceptions and you must save at least 1 Space Monkey. Do not forget that you must have 4 players no matter what, or you cannot complete the rest of this easter egg.

Make sure that if you bought a Perk, you down yourself so you will not have one. It is best that you only have PhD Flopper, that way you can guarantee that the Monkeys will attack that machine only. It's okay if they successfully steal the PhD Flopper, as long as you save at least one Space Monkey at the end of the round.

There are 4 Power nodes that need to be activated on the Monkey round and they only appear on Monkey Rounds as well. Next to each Perk Machine (Excluding Quick Revive) a red button will appear on the wall (Not the Red Phones). It may not be right next to the machine but it will be near it.

With a player at JuggerNog, Flopper, Speed Cola, and Stamin-Up; all players must hit those red buttons at the same time and hold them down until the room shakes a bit. Now you will hear the Mystery Man once more that it's almost ready but will need more power again (Great). But at least Power node No. 2 is activated and more power has been re-routed to the Kassimir Mechanism. I hope this Kassimir guy appreciates what we're doing for him!

Power node No. 3 Is A Doozy! So here is where it gets complicated and you are going to need a Pack-A-Punched Ballistic Knife and another crawler. A crawler who is 2 minutes "Crawler Time" away from everyone in your party. That means you must have launched the rocket. So head back upstairs and launch the rocket. Blow it up for fun if you want, but you don't have to.

Head on down to the Pack-A-Punch area and stand underneath the launch pad, facing the clock on the wall, above the bloody hand prints( The clock that wasn't there before, but now is thanks to Power node No. 2)! There will be that whistling sound again too!

Everybody needs to be standing on the platform underneath the launch pad, because the platform is pressure sensitive. That means you have to stand still (no moving around)!

Whomever has the Upgraded Ballistic Knives, needs to shoot one of them into the wall, directly underneath the clock. You will hear a clunk if you did it right and the clock will begin to countdown the 2 minutes.

When it has completed, a Nuke Bomb will detonate, killing your crawler and ending the round. Now you will hear the guy say Power node 3 has been activated to the Kassimir Mechanism. Mr. Kassimir will sound very ecstatic now and tell you to hurry, after all "she's" coming and you don't want her to hurt him--do you? After all of this I bet you might consider it! You will also hear the man yelling a name, "Luna!".

Power node 4 - Collecting L.U.N.AIf you ride the Lunar Lander downstairs to the refueling station, listen carefully to the whistling sound you will hear. This is your next hint to completing the Kassimir easter egg. You are going to need to ride the Lunar Landers back and forth, in order to collect a series of Letters, that you will need to enter into the Computer near the Claymores. There are 12 Letters total, but you only need 4 of them to activate the last Power node.

Save yourself a lot on money and have another member of your party call the landers back and forth for you. This free as opposed to the 250 points it would take to purchase the landers. When you are riding the lander you will see the letter hanging in the air. You collect it when the lander passes through the letters.

When the man yelled "LUNA" at the end of the transmission, after you activated the 3rd Power node; he was giving you a clue as to the word you need to be spelling here. You guessed it! Collect the letters L-U-N-A in order, and you don't even have to head back over to the Claymore area and enter them into the Computer.

Once you have collected the last letter, you have activated Power node No. 4 and the Mechanism has now reached full power. Yes! Yes! No... There's More?!

Finally! Completion In All It's Glory! At last the journey has almost come to an end, as you and your friends head back to the Claymore area and stare into the lights of the Kassimir Mechanism. The Capsule that is planted there, in the ground has 4 glowing lights projecting from it.

If you look by the concrete barrier, you will see a glowing spot on the ground that seems to be coming from the 4 lights on the capsule. Hear the whistling again?

Throw down a Gersh Device in front of the concrete barrier, right near that glowing dot on the ground. Make sure it lands right up against that barrier, or this may not work! Let the Gersh Device fizzle out and you will here the Kassimir guy say that there isn't enough power, he needs more! What?!!

Yes more Power! Here's where you need all those weapons I listed above ( Zeus Cannon, 2 Upgraded Ray Guns, 1 Upgraded Crossbow, 3 Matryoshska Doll Bombs, Gersh Device). It's gonna get pretty!

Everyone has to work together here and it has to be done rather quickly too. Here are the steps:

Where you threw the first Gersh Device in front of the concrete barrier, throw another one! At the same time you do this; throw all 3 Matryoshka bombs into the Black Hole and Everyone needs to Continually shoot their Upgraded Ray guns, Thunder Gun,and Crossbow into the Black Hole! Keep Doing it until the Black Hole fizzles out!

When this is complete, you will have finally freed the Kassimir guy who cannot thank you enough for saving him. He does however give everyone in your party Death Machines, and this means that you have completed the Kassimir Easter Egg.

ConclusionThis Kassimir Easter Egg of Wonder, is definitely worth all of the effort, even if all you get is Death Machines for everyone to play with. You still had a really good time playing Zombies with your friends, and may have even made a few friends in the process!

Try it out next time you manage to get some competent players and I recommend backing out of lobbies filled with under-aged players. There is nothing worse than having to listen to a 7 year old cry about the Mystery Box, when they shouldn't be playing a Rated M game in the first place, but that's besides the point. Have fun!
