Sometimes we perpetrate those crimes, for capital and fame
Defaming characters, and slandering names
But I come to preach, that we must change
Blacks need love and unity, in our families and communities
In our present, and future life
We can conquer evil, only through Christ
So stand proud, and conquer all
Rise don't fall, there are no barriers or walls
Cause the truth be told, the black man holds
Talents, gifts, & inventions too, created to represent you
So when you need air, a black man put it there
He invented that bike, and the traffic light
Created the cell phone, Madame C gave us the pressing comb
Blacks created the hair brush, and the thermostat at home
And when you push that button, on the elevator
Please be reminded, it was a Black creator
Listen to your heart, with a stethoscope
This Black creator, gives us hope
And when I write, I praise the Black man
Cause without his typewriter, I'd abuse my hands
Go fry that chicken, on a Black man's stove
Or use his biscuit cutter, or his dryer for your clothes
If you want ice cream, use the Black man's scoop
If you're fighting in the war, his gas mask is for troops
Feel like playing his guitar, or his horse shoes
Created door stops and curtain rods, all this is true
The Black race's contribution, is much in this world
Take charge, stand strong, men, women, boys, and girls
February is our month, Black folks what cha gone do
Be creative and productive, and make history too
Note: For poem purposes the word "man" is used, however, the created could have been a woman.
