According to an article posted on RapGodfathers.com, the Rap music superstar known as Black Rob has been released from prison and is now ready to start working on recording some new material. Black Rob just completed his sentence of seven years for a charge of grand larceny and he is now a free man. His most successful song to ever be released was a track titled Whoa that was included on his debut album in 1999 titled Life Story. The article indicated that the album went on to sell over one million copies and it was one of the most successful albums of that year. Black Rob was able to achieve success in Rap music because he was able to benefit from label mates Diddy, Mase, Jadakiss, Styles, and Shyne. Each artist had a very different appeal and most of these artists made records for the radio as Black Rob made records for the fan of Rap music that was looking for hardcore Rap music. With this being the case, Black Rob was able to achieve a great deal of success with his Life Story album.

However, the article notes that Black Rob is no longer a part of Bad Boy Records and he is no longer on speaking terms with Diddy. Black Rob indicates that Diddy did not provide him with any form of assistance while he is in prison and he believed that if Diddy were a friend then he would have done so. This was the same feeling that Rap artist Shyne had he was released from prison. Both Black Rob and Shyne indicated that Diddy made them feel as if Bad Boy Records operated as a family and they would be taken care of as such. However, both artists found that when they were placed in prison Diddy no longer had anything to provide for either artist. Black Rob seems shocked by the reality that business is just business and that is all the music industry is. Sure, Diddy may have signed Black Rob and Shyne to Bad Boy Records at one point but this should not be indicative of a need to feed either artist for the remainder of time. Both Shyne and Black Rob feel it was very unprofessional of Diddy to handle business in such a way as to sever ties with his former artists. However, Diddy is a businessman and once he is no longer doing business with either artist he has no reason to associate himself with someone in prison.
