Although many of T-Mo's subscribers might have wished for the Bold to come their way, this will not happen, and they will have to make do only with the Javelin.
Officially named BlackBerry 8900, the Javelin looks to be the rightful successor of the Curve series, hence it might be released under the dubbing of BlackBerry Curve II. According to BlackBerry News, the new Curve should hit T-Mobile's shelves sometime in November, at about one month after the newly announced Pearl Flip 8220.
The features of BlackBerry Javelin / Curve II have not yet been officially confirmed, but all the info spotted on the Web until now points to a list of specs that includes a 480 x 360 pixel TFT display, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi with UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access), a full QWERTY keyboard, a 512 MHz processor, 256MB of Flash memory, a dedicated Lock key, BlackBerry 4.6.1 OS, microUSB and support for hot-swappable microSD cards. Unlike the Bold, Javelin only brings quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE, but its camera is better: 3.2 Megapixels, auto focus, flash and a protective glass cover.
Needless to say, Javelin is more oriented towards the multimedia side, while BlackBerry Bold is a handset that will mainly please business users, so they have slightly different targets, even if they're both smartphones.
No pricing details about T-Mobile's Javelin have been unveiled, but it should be a bit less expensive than the BlackBerry Bold. So, the smartphone might come with a retail price of around 500 USD.
Anyway, before T-Mobile can come out with any official details about Javelin, it's RIM (Research in Motion) that has to fully present the smartphone first, since the Canadian company is its manufacturer.
