Blackberry Storm Personal Review

The Storm Vs. The IPhone

Zach Golt
Blackberry Storm Consumer Review

Most of us have heard the story about Steve Jobs in one way or another. If you didn't know, when Steve Jobs and Apple were in their developing stages of the iPhone they wanted to go to Verizon first. It was surprising to find out the Verizon didn't want to be a part of the iPhone industry, so they turned to AT&T.

The latest Blackberry out right now is "The Storm," and it's similar to Steve Jobs' iPhone. The Storm has the same features as the iPhone. It is a widescreen, touch screen device and it has most of the features that the iPhone has. The Storm has clickable display, and comes with email and messaging services - which have an extraordinary reputation. It is also connected to the biggest network in the United States which many of you may recognize from their commercials.

The design is sleek and striking. When you first take a glance at it you cant help but notice its attractive features and intricate work. The majority of the front of the phone is display. The touch screen activates itself with a slight touch. There is a silver lining that runs around the top, side, and bottom of the device. It has a sleep framed look, the display is 3.25 inches. On the bottom of the screen there are four familiar Blackberry keys that all Blackberry lovers can recognize (phone, menu, back, end and power).

The touch screen is where you will be doing most of your action. One thing that other phones like the storm don't have is "click" sound that Blackberry commercials stress on television. This is its own unique sound.

The picture quality on the phone is camera quality! Excellent pictures with a great resolution. The only problem is that it takes a long time for the camera to focus in order to take those great pictures. The pictures are good during the day, but at night the pictures were a bit off when I had to use the flash. The camera looks very nice; it's just a tad bit on the slow side.

The Storm is somewhat similar to the Blackberry OSs. Moving through the screen is just like the typical Blackberry. I would assume that they didn't want original Blackberry lovers to hate the new Blackberry Storm if they took away Blackberry's original features. Its obvious that the Storm is getting good promotions through Verizon. For the device itself, it will surely give the iPhone industry a run for its money.

The Storm is beautifully constructed, it's elegant to look at and hold, it's designed and backed by RIM (booming household name because of their dominance in the entertainment and business market). One thing that I hold true is the iPhone is more convenient, enjoyable and easy to use.
