Blackberry Tour Review

Terry Rode
After Sprint's Blackberry Curve, everyone was guessing what the next blackberry to hit the market would be, and what kind of features it would have. Well, the wait is over, and the Blackberry Tour has arrived. The Blackberry Tour is the newest Blackberry smartphone to hit the Sprint and Verizon network. If you were to mash together AT&T's Blackberry Bold and the Blackberry Curve, you would get the Blackberry Tour.

The Tour has a 3.2 megapixel camera, which is the best camera on a Blackberry, GPS and Web capabilities, along with e-mail, Blackberry messaging and bluetooth. Since its release on July 12th, 2009, Sprint and Verizon customers have been blessed with the best multimedia phone and clearest display of any phone. The QWERTY keyboard is the same as the Blackberry Bold, and has the high resolution display screen, both of which make it easier for e-mails and web browsing. There is a button on the side that can access the voice dialing feature. You can tell the blackberry to call whoever you want by speaking in the phone, or speaking into the bluetooth that is connected to it.

The only thing that the Tour lacks, which would have been a great feature, is Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is a class of wireless local area network that allows a device to sync up to an internet connection, wirelessly. Unfortunately, the Tour lacks that capability, but makes up for it with its screen, texting and overall look. The Tour also has a microSD memory card slot on the back of the battery, where you will also find a surprise on the Sprint Tour.

When you take the battery out, not only will you notice the microSD slot, but you will notice a sim card, which is rare for sprint phones. When you go to activate the Tour, it will ask you if you have a preference on whether you want the Tour to hit off the CDMA networks or the GSM networks. The good thing with the sim card is, instead of having to subscribe to that stupid wireless sync feature with Sprint, you can save all your contacts to the sim card, which makes it easier to take your contacts with you when you decide to switch your blackberry.

The Tour is not a bad phone at all. Aside from the lack of Wi-Fi, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a smartphone, or a blackberry user looking to upgrade to a new one. The tour is definitely a great holiday gift!
