You can help prevent blackheads by following a strict and thorough skin cleansing routine. Make sure that every night you remove all make up, regardless of how tired you are. Makeup blocks pores and causes blackheads which lead to pimples. Wash your face with water to get rid of oil and dead skin flakes. You can use a facial scrub that suits your skin type but make sure it is gentle. Then follow it up with a good moisturizing lotion. If you choose to use an exfoliate then only use it two to three times per week. Your skin needs to heal after using an exfoliate, doing so more often will cause problems to your skin like a road rash.
Some salons can remove blackheads; if you prefer not to use the salon then a blackhead removal kit can be purchased at most local skincare retailers. Start with a gentle steam to your face by folding a towel over your face. The hot steam helps to loosen dirt and open pores. Only when the pores are open can the blackheads be removed without problems or pain. The kit contains a blackhead extractor. You must always use a sterilized extractor so that you do not spread infection to the rest of your skin. Then use a face pack or moisturizer that suits your skin type. Be gentle with your skin after this process as you just caused severe trauma, think of it like a backward tattoo. Blackhead strips are available at most retailers; the process is much the same for best results. Avoid squeezing or scratching the surface of the blackheads. Just like a pimple this will only aggravate the problem and cause a pimple or scar to appear.
Consume plenty of water and eat a well balanced diet to prevent blackheads and acne. Clear skin can be maintained by using a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer in a daily regimen. Eating right and exercising regularly is the key to a glowing complexion. Reduce stress and try to do something that makes you happy at least once a day. This will show on your face not only with a clearer complexion but fewer wrinkles and shadows. If you still find it difficult to control blackheads after making these changes, contact your doctor who can refer you to a dermatologist for consultation. Not everything is 100% treatable on our own.
