The police in Blackwell, Oklahoma seem to be working overtime to make their city drug free.

A total of five people have been busted in drug raids in the past 4 days. One of those is a teacher from Wichita, Kansas.

The first bust occurred on Nov. 5 at 6 a.m. when the Blackwell Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at 902 N. Main Street.

Police report that the warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation involving illegal drug sales from the residence.

During the search, officers found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia and sadly enough children.

Police chief Fred LeValley stated that the children were in danger, because there were drugs and needles all over the residence that were easily accessible.

Police arrested 38-year-old Jerry Wayne Campbell, 35-year-old Dawn Marie Thele and 18-year-old Brendan Harris.

Campbell was arrested for Possession Of Methamphetamine With Intent To Distribute, Distribution Of Methamphetamine, Conspiracy , Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Child Neglect, and Maintaining A Residence Where CDS Is Kept/and/or sold.

LeValley said complaints about a large amount of traffic in and out of the residence, and the belief that drug activity was going on led to the investigation and arrests.

Police were not done though, as they followed that bust up with another two days later.

On Nov. 7 at approximately 8 p.m. police with assistance from the Kay County District Attorney's Office, served a narcotics search warrant at 1216 N. 44th Street in Blackwell.

This warrant was the result of a 9 month long investigation of a complex Marijuana distribution ring. The investigation was conducted by Det. Jay Brewer and Sgt. John Mitchell.

It is scary and tragic enough that drug activity flourishes -it is shocking and shameful that a teacher is involved!

I'm outraged at the middle school teacher peddling. Sure salaries require that you get a part time job, but that's just ridiculous. (Because of his close access to "consumers" he should get a stiffer penalty.)
