'Blade Runner' Star Sean Young Joins CBS Soap 'The Young and the Restless'
Sean Young Plays Opposite Eric Braeden as Victor Newman
Young previously appeared alongside Eric Braeden in The Man Who Came Back, a socially relevant western, which he also executive produced. I had the pleasure of interviewing Braeden about his independent movie for Associated Content - A Chat With Actor Braeden. Young first met and become friendly with Braeden, years before he offered her a part in The Man Who Came Back, and so it was a natural fit to act with him on the hit CBS television daytime drama.
Sean Young isn't the only big star to surprise and delight soap fans by guesting on popular TV daytime dramas. James Franco (Spiderman) admitted himself into ABC's General Hospital playing Franco, a quirky performance artist. Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights) revisited her soap roots by returning to As The World Turns, the daytime soap where she won an Emmy award for her work. Over on The Bold and The Beautiful, Patrick Duffy (Dallas) has played bad boy Steve Logan since 2006.
As Hollywood, and a general entertainment landscape change, and with increased acting offered in video games or web shows, big movie roles or high profile - and paying - TV work has transformed to where actors and actresses consider roles they may not have taken before. In Julianne Moore's case, she's said to be guesting on the soap to mostly wish the daytime drama a fond farewell - since it's going off the air this fall. Whatever the case, it's fun to see thespians of the high caliber of Sean Young working on a soap, which doesn't get the attention and accolades of cinema, or highly marketed prime time TV shows.

Post a Commentso far i don't like the character
Interesting, I haven't watched a soap in years but they can be addicting
Now that I have more free time I should try and watch the Young and the Restless, or maybe not I don't really care for soaps. I'll rent a movie she's in and check her out.
TV has some of the best roles these days. Even soap operas.
What a change! Loved her in Blade Runner (along with Daryl Hannah).
I am not a big soap fan - except in the shower :) LOL cheers!~
