Blake Shelton Has a Great Week with No. 1 Single and a Sell Out at the Ryman

Karen Gros
Blake Shelton not only had the number 1 hit on Billboard this week with "Hillbilly Bone", but he also sold out his first headlining act at the Ryman.

"Hillbilly Bone" is a catchy tune that also features Blake's friend Trace Adkins singing along. The song is not only comical, but one that most people find themselves singing along with. Blake contributes its huge success to Adkins' involvement and contribution to the song.

Shelton is also having a big success with his new CD titled "Hillbilly Bone," which is selling very quickly all across the United States. "Hillbilly Bone" sold more than 71,000 copies in the first week of sales and has become Warner Bros./Reprise Records highest debuting album to date.

Shelton has taken a new approach to releasing new music in an attempt to please his loyal fans. His new CD "Hillbilly Bone" has only 6 cuts on the album, which he calls a "6 pack". The reason behind this new "mini-CD" is Shelton's way of getting new music to the fans faster and also at a lower price than a full size album. A second CD will be released at the end of summer that will contain another "6 pack" of songs and will be titled "Hillbilly Bone, Part 2".

Last week Blake Shelton performed in his very first headlining act at the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on March 18, 2010, playing to a sold out crowd.

Blake's entrance on the stage was quite unique as he appeared on a multi-level silver stage behind a curtain as a rude radio announcer tried to conduct an interview with him. Blake set the DJ straight as he announced, "I am Blake Shelton and you can kiss my ass!" The curtain drops and Blake starts singing "Kiss My Country Ass," a tune written by fellow country music performer Rhett Akins.

Shelton has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award for the single "Hillbilly Bone" as the Vocal Event of the Year. The hit single is a duo that also features Blake's friend, Trace Adkins.

The Academy of Country Music Awards will be held Sunday, April 18th 2010 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. CBS will be carrying the award show live at 8:00 pm Eastern Time. This will be the 45th year for the CMA Awards.

On a personal note, we may be hearing an announcement of an engagement from Shelton soon. Blake has been seeing singer-songwriter, Miranda Lambert, for some time now and describes the relationship as "solid". Divorced in 2006, Blake says he is now ready to

Shelton will be hitting the road on a national tour in April. The first stop will be in Oakland, CA at the Oracle Arena and ending in Detroit Lakes, MN at the WE Fest.

Nice reporting. I like Blake Shelton. You don't hear a lot of country music in England, but my local station has started to play a bit. They did think Rascal Flats was a person though - I need to set them right...
