Blank

Jill P. Viers
This is a poem I wrote awhile back about the "reorganization" at my former company. Two weeks after I left this company, I found out 50 people were laid off. I felt bad for those who lost their jobs, but I also felt very lucky because I found a job and company that were a better fit for me...and just in time! As I contemplated the situation my former co-workers were going through, this is what came out.

BLANK

It's how my mind is feeling

DRAINED

From all the thinking, the planning, the implementing

Intelligent thoughts replaced by hard pounding

pangs in my head

Listening to Corporate's

incessant yammering about "positive" changes

Questioning authority and decision-making ability

Thinking "reorganization" is a quick fix

for being cheap

It gets hard to focus

but I must

so I can remain

on top of my game!

It's mind boggling to think of 50 people being laid off. What else can the mind do, but go blank? Nicely expressed in the poem.

Yep. "restructuring and reorganization" usually mean many job cuts. Unfortunately, it has become a trend in most companies. Great poem. I loved the strength in it. :-)Good work.

You really connect with the people who have been there. People who have been treated like old furniture. I hope that you can help them to stay focused with your timely words. Good job.

You have created a great picture with words. TX

You really captured the feeling, especially how hypocritical the "happy words" from corporate are.
