Blaze Beat Ports Extend Streak to Two

The Blaze (5-10) rallied in the seventh inning to beat the Stockton Ports (2-12) 6-5 Thursday to take game one of a four game series at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Down by two runs in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and no one on, Bakersfield strung together a Mitch Moreland single, a Mauro Gomez walk, and back-to-back doubles by Tim Smith and Ian Gac to score three runs.

Starter Kennil Gomez gave up 4 ER on 3H including 1HR fanning eight and walking five in five innings.

Timothy Smith hit his second homer of the season and singled earlier in the contest, and Matt Lawson added his third home run and picked up 1RBI. Mauro Gomez was 3 for 3.

Adelberto Flores (1-1) was 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 SO and Zach Phillips picks up the save, his first of the season pitching 2 IP, 1 BB, 2 SO.

Ports pitcher Pat Currin gets the loss giving up 3H and 3ER in 1.2 IP.

The Blaze will continue their home stand tonight against Stockton at 7:15 p.m. at Sam Lynn Ballpark. It will be Friday Family Fun Pack 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas, 4 chips, program, and signed ball for only $36.
