Blaze pitching would hold the Ports to only 6 hits and two runs for the game.
Starter Tim Murphy (2-2) gave up only 2 ER on 6H, fanning two and walking only one in six innings. Although Murphy did not dominate, he did get his first winning start after three rough appearances to open the season. Relievers Ryan Falcon (2 IP, 1BB, 2 SO) and Brennan Garr (1 IP, 1 BB, 1SV) completed the solid pitching performance, shutting down Stockton's offense in the final innings.
Matt Lawson would open the scoring with a solo homer in the bottom of the first; his fourth on the year and Mitchell Moreland hit his sixth two-bagger of the season.
Ports pitcher Justin Murray (0-2) gets the loss giving up 5H, 3BB and 3ER in 4.1 IP.
The Blaze will continue their home stand tonight against Stockton at 7:15 p.m. at Sam Lynn Ballpark. It will be Student Appreciation Night. Any student who presents a recent report card with a GPA of 2.5 or higher at the ticket window will receive 1/2 off the price of any regularly priced ticket.
