Blaze Snuffed Out for Seven Straight

The Bakersfield Blaze (3-10) were defeated by the Visalia Rawhide (12-1) in the second game of a three game series on Tuesday at Recreation Park in Visalia, 5-2.

Blaze starter 6'7" RHP Blake Beaven (0-1) gave up 8 H, 5R in five innings while fanning six.

The Rawhide came out swinging striking in the first and third innings to take a two run lead.

Bakersfield's Mitch Moreland doubled (5) on a fly ball to center in the top of the fourth and would later score on an RBI single from Jonathan Greene (2 for 3) his seventh of the season to trim Visalia's lead to one.

Visalia SP Jarrod Parker (1-0) who had not given up any earned runs this season gave up 5 H, 1R, in five innings with two strikeouts.William Spottiswoodposted his first save of the season for the Rawhide.

Visalia would score three runs in the fifth on a Sean Coughlin two-run homer to left center field extending the their lead 5-1.

The Blaze would get one more on an Ian Gac sacrifice RBI (6) fly deep to left field in the eighth to close the gap 5-2.

The Blaze will play the final game of the three game series against Visalia Apr. 22 1:05 p.m.

What's burning: The Blaze have been outscored 41-22 in their last seven games. Blaze starters Michael Main and Tim Murphy lead the Cal league in walks with 10 and 12 respectively.
