Blaze SP Michael Main (0-2) would walk five, give up three hits including a two-run homer to Sean Coughlin, and allow seven runs in just two innings as Visalia led 7-0 going into the third.
The Blaze would score five runs in the top of the fourth on hits from Osuna, Beltre, Lawson and a two-run double from Mitchell Moreland that would bring the Blaze within two.
Visalia would add two more in the sixth as the Bakersfield would come up short in the top of the seventh with two runs of their own including a one-run double from Ian Gac, his second of the season.
SP Tom Layne (1-0) would pick up the win for Visalia as he allowed only one hit in two innings and Jeff Dietz would post his fourth save of 2009.
The Blaze will continue their three game series against Visalia (11-1) tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Recreation Park.
The Blazes' Mitchell Moreland went 3 for 5 on the night, including a double. Moreland leads the team in doubles.
