Blephantis(BLEE-uh-RYE-tis): An Eye Disease

Many People Have No Idea There is a Problem that is Called Blephantis

Mrs.Rogers
Blephantis is an eye irritation of the outer edges of your eye lids. It can affect your eyelids, eyelashes, or the glands that oil your eye lids and the whites inside your eyes. This is a very hard disease to get treated. It can take almost 8 to 12 months to get it cleared up and could possibly last indefinitely.

Causes of this disease are either infections or allergies. If you have Diabetes, you can also trigger the problem. Being a Diabetic I learned about this disease and watch for frequent changes in my eyes. This disease is serious enough to get the attention of medical offices that treat Diabetes. It is important to keep your eyes healthy because they are the only pair you will have, unless...

The signs and some symptoms to watch out for are typical for any eye irritant. They are things like itching, or burning. Sometimes soreness of the eyelids can be a symptom. If you feel like there is something in your eyes, or if the eyelids are getting red, warm or swollen, this can be a definite sign to warn you , you must get them looked at by a physician. In addition to the discomfort and pain, there will be things on your eyes that favor scales. They will be hard and crusty, and they will flake. This is one definite sign.

When there is "scaling", you must take steps to remove it.
In the nighttime while you sleep your eyelids may be shut together by matter, and any substance that has drained out f your eyes during the night. You will have to remove this stuff by a warm washcloth and possibly salt water solution. Maybe even a soap less shampoo can be used to clean the ridges of your eye. There could be possibility of bleeding while trying to remove this. Use a clean, dry towel to dry eyes off. This should be done daily a couple of times, if need be.

To help you ease discomfort, you can apply a warm compress, such as a warm washcloth. Doing this several times a day will speed healing. It is a good idea not to wear any makeup until conditions are dissolved. It might be necessary to use a pain reliever such as Advil or Tylenol.

Please get medical advise if you have any of these symptoms, or if you want to know more. Never take anything without appropriate medical advice. Do not attempt to wait it out without getting proper help, it could damage your eyes. Eyes are delicate and they need to have special care.

My hope is that this will make others aware of this disease and that others with knowledge will become empowered.
