It is all about the struggle of learning to accept the things we can not change or that are just plain none of our business and move on with a happy life. It is a tool that can be used in professional and personal areas of life. Amanda shares that we do our part and then simply bless and release.
Stacy took Amanda's advice to heart. She had been trying desperately to fit in with her husband's family. She has great respect for them and yet her interests are very different.
After reading the examples in Amanda's book Stacy dedicated herself to being her personal best and concentrated on the things that were important to her. When others said "Why can't you just ....?" She replied with confidence. "I am doing my best and thank you for noticing." An amazing thing happened. She was grateful they noticed. She was able to bless them and release.
Trent is a young and talented builder. He can not seem to leave a job that he doesn't view as perfect. He say a baseboard he considered a problem, it was a little uneven. The home owner said there was no need to fix it. Trent could not deal with the situation, so the next day he returned and fixed the baseboard. Now he was proud of his work. The home owner then demanded that Trent refund $1000 because he admitted his work was not up to par. Trent had also read this amazing book. He smiled. He wrote the check and in the memo he wrote bless and release, And he did.
When Mellissa was fired from her job, it was probably the right thing for the company to do. Still Mellissa felt some shame and anger toward coworkers. A friend dropped a copy of the book by and Mellissa read it cover to cover. She was able to bless and release. She has a great new job and attitude to match.
It's hard to say if everyone who read this book will receive the message the same way. There is no real way to know if Amanda Dickson would be pleased with the way the message was working. However, watching the bless and release theory move through this little community is a wonderful experience. Last week there was a copy left in the laundromat and the doctors office with an inscription that said, read it, keep it, buy one and pass it on. It is good advice.
