Blessed Be the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Hartley Engel
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you." (1 Peter 1:3,4).

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for paying my sin debt in full through your substitutionary death on the cross. Thank you, Father God, for preparing a place in heaven for me, where I - and all believers - will enjoy your loving presence for eternity; where every tear that we shed during our earthly lives will be transformed into a sweet river of pleasure that will bathe and nourish us in a love so fulfilling and magnificent, that words alone cannot begin to describe just how wonderful it will be.

One of the most powerful ways to commune with the Lord and receive His blessings is to "get into the Word and get the Word into you." It is essential, in fact. I love the following quote concerning the loveliness of the Bible. May it inspire you to grow in the Lord!

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.

CHRIST is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end.

It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its contents.

We just returned home from church tonight. The Pastor was teaching from the book of Acts and he told us, "Salvation is Free, but you pay a price to be a Disciple." He was trying to explain the cost of following Jesus and making Him the Lord of our lives while still on this earth. cheers :)
