Blessed Rainy Day

Harold Dean Sink
The pitter patter of tiny drops upon my window sill

Are a welcome guest to my yard and make me lay so still.

I close my eyes to go back to sleep,

And hope to do so without counting sheep.

Soon the slumber comes back to me.

Still, while I sleep the rain goes on.

The fauna and animals are singing their songs.

Coolness fills the air of the room.

Soon the bed sheets are a cool loom.

The usual day is now gloomy and dark.

Finally, my body wakes for something new.

My morning walk will not find the morning dew.

Yet here I go with an umbrella in hand.

No matter what happens life is still grand.

Yet others zoom by and ignore the rain.

A cool breeze soon comes to cool things down more.

Soon I walk up for doughnuts at the bakery store.

Walking back home with doughnuts in hand,

I thank God for all he does for this old land. The day is now perfect with a blessing of rain.
