Blind

Matthew Shively
All I hear is screaming in my head
I see tears from the dead
The war is clear, is present in my mind
I can't help but see through the blind
The night, but day is a haze
What do I do to clear this daze
Find me, looking, inside my daydream

Hear she comes, an angel with a smile
Am I dying, am I dead, is hell finally over
Can she help me find, my life, my day, my smile
Is it still there, I can't find, damn it where did it go
Is life so sad and overbearing that I cannot find
Or is it there in the blind

Open my eyes and I see, the sun, it is so hot
Sweat running my face, humid stripping my sole
Feet on fire, no end in sight, eyes burning blind
Could it be that hell is in life and heaven death
Will I see the end to this, the line drawn in the sand

Wishing to be free, as a prisoner serving time for his crime
The days monotonous and revolving time
Spent dreaming the day through weakening moments
The enemy close, the smell over barren, the time close
When will it end and start anew
The black hole, but so bright, the heat lives within
The fire of a sole within that rages for release

Hear she comes, an angel with a smile
Am I dying, am I dead, is hell finally over
Can she help find, my life, my day, my smile
Is it still there, I can't find, damn it where did it go
Is life so sad and overbearing that I cannot find
Or is it there in the blind

Eyes wide open, but yet black as eve
A shot is fired and the heat is high in me
Feeling the piercing of my spirit, but yet still alive
Did the enemy win and it is time to see her once again
Help me please out of this blind side I see myself in
Anger dwelling inside that cannot hide
Finish what was started and get back
But why, what is left, what is there back there

Stay clear of the demon inside, he wants to see light
If he gets free, life will punish the sole within
Flee while you can, in the end, you will see
A craze of blindness as you, the enemy, will see fit
An honorable death in war you are
Close your eyes, find the light, the time is stood still
No feeling, fear be gone, finally behold the angel within

Hear she comes, an angel with a smile
Am I dying, am I dead, is hell finally over
Can she help find, my life, my day, my smile
Is it still there, I can't find, damn it where did it go
Is life so sad and overbearing that I cannot find
Or is it there in the blind

Life found still, clouds moving amid, war behold
Standing in my light, the enemy is gone
Heaven is here, hell is gone, wounded and clear
Finally still, there she stood with a shadow over me
Once again a smile, body warm and comfortable
Blindness, nice in full sight, clear as day, finally the demons gone
Sweat gone, sun in eve, heaven in death

This would make a great song with the right music behind it, don't you think? I enjoyed it very much. You have a way with words.

That must not have been easy to write. Thanks for sharing.
