Blind Boy

Blind boy

I see you

the object of my obsession
though you feel invisible
alone at the table
stirring something
in a paper cup

disposable

Contemplating cold coffee
a four dollar latte
half drunk

I am here

under layers of doubt
and insecurity
beautiful in hiding

I try to make my words
sing magic metaphor
secret messages
encrypted for you

I stare

inconspicuously

watch you scribble
in your notebook

between my lines
between your sips
of Sumatra

and you don't even see
who I am
