Blind Sight

James R. Ford
loose change found on the sidewalk

twenty eight cents

almost enough

to buy a half a cup of coffee

a child's tear

halfway down her cheek

enough moisture

to stop and ask why

rush hour in the city

everybody and his brother

in a hurry to get nowhere fast

are you ready to go underground?

climb aboard the blue vestibule

stand next to the man

without a smile

eyes hidden by dark glasses.
