A bizarre blindness takes hold of many people and it is seemingly contagious. A single woman is not affected (Julianne Moore) and she helps several who are to survive. Blindness.
It's been a long while since I've seen a movie that totally made me rethink how horrible I thought Brother Where Art Thou was. I still dislike it but I've got a new movie to replace it with. I would rather watch (and this is saying a WHOLE LOT) Oh Brother Where Art Thou TWICE than ever, ever, ever, ever see Blindness again. The only reason it has a D- instead of a F is because Julianne Moore cannot be denied how great she was in this film.
tried WAY too hard to make it an artsy film with a mystic meaning. The visuals weighted heavily on the white because that was what the blind saw when they went blind, they saw blinding white. It was everywhere, this white, that white, everything was white. Then they stick them in quarantine and that's when the story just totally fell apart. There were a group of horrible persons in there that did horrible things to people for payment for the food that was suppose to be rationed. It wasn't because it didn't fit in the film, it was because there was someone that could see that didn't do anything that was my problem. It frustrated me so much that things happened when they didn't have to because someone could see. It was just not done well enough for me to believe that she would wait so long to attack. The breaking point was before the storyline brought about her breaking point.
TWO HOURS LONG OF BUMBLING BLIND PEOPLE was so very boring. Ok? They could have done so much better with this that it's dreadful that they didn't bother trying to be meaningful and fun instead of artsy and boring. Julianne Moore is the only one that made this visually worthy of my sight.
Blindness was bad. Don't see it. I do not really ever say that, but this is one I have to state that for. If you see it and then you feel like you wasted your time I did warn you. Nothing is worse than a film that is so blind to what kind of story it has than it being named such and squandering said storyline. Blindness was not only sightless on story, but on who the hell would actually sit through this crap and enjoy it.
