According to Blistex's website, the Blistex Pro Care was formulating using input from 100 skin experts. In addition to SPF 30 which is a very high level of sunblock, this product has moisturizing agents to provide extreme protection for your lips. The ingredients in Blistex's Pro Care Lip Protectant includes ceramides, glycolipids and phospholipids, which replenish natural lip elements to maintain elasticity; GLA-Omega 6 which prevents the lips from drying out; green tea extracts, which provide antioxidants and vitamins A and E which provide nourishment for your lips and helps to keep them smooth and soft.

The main ingredients are Dimethicone (skin protectant), Avobenzone, Octisalate, Octocrylene, and Oxobenzone (all sunscreen ingredients). Other ingredients according to the package include:borago officinalis seed oil, camellia sinensis leaf extract, C1030 cholesterol/lanoesterol esters, ceramide 2, citric acid, cyclomethicone, flavors, glycerol stearate, glycolipids, hydrogenated lecithin, methylparaben, microcrystalline wax, myristyl myristate, ozokerite, polybutene, polyglycerol-3 dilostearate, polymethylsilsesquioxane, propylene glycol, propylparaben, retinyl palmate, saccharin, tocopheryl acetate, tridecyl, neopentanoate and corn oil.

According to the package, the Blistex Pro Care is used for the temporary relief of chapped or cracked lips, it helps to prevent lips from drying out due to wind and cold, and helps prevent sunburn. The package also warns against using on deep wounds, animal bites or severe burns, and states you should stop use if a rash occurs.

One of the most unique aspects of the Blistex Pro Care is the countered applicator. The entire stick has an oval contour to it, which is actually much easier to use than the traditional round sticks of most lip balms and chapsticks. During application, it is also much easier to apply as the countered shape is designed to move naturally over the shape of our lips.

Truth be told, I found Blistex Pro Care at Big Lots for $1.50. Being an avid searcher for the perfect chapstick, I could not resist the cheap price. At other stores however you can find this product for about $2.50-$3.00.

In addition to requiring a lip protectant to have sunscreen, I also look for long lasting properties, and chapstick that does not leave a film on your lips after a length of time. Taste is also important. Blistex Pro Care has extreme sun protection and is one of the highest SPF levels in a chapstick product I have found. It is easy to apply, and tastes and smells pleasant. After application, I have found that Blistex Pro Care lasts about an hour before it needs to be reapplied, which is typical of most lip protectants. Blistex Pro Care does not feel thick or slimy on your lips as some products I have tried do and the coverage is adequate, not being too thick or too thin. Your lips feel perfectly covered using this product. Blistex Pro Care is also not sticky or gooey. In addition, I was very pleased to learn that there is no film left on the lips and instead your lips are left feeling very soft after even one use. With repeated uses, your lips are incredibly soft and even dry lips become soft with repeated use.

I highly recommend Blistex Pro Care, especially if you are looking for an excellent chapstick that has a high SPF. This would be the perfect chapstick for those who engage in outdoor sports or who like to go to the beach or garden. It is a wonderful lip protectant for those with severely dry or chapped lips and anyone who uses this product will find their lips are very soft with even one use. I prefer it over other lip protectants I have tried and found reapplication does not leave build up or residue on your lips, which means no film and just soft, moist lips.
