Blitz: The League 2 Review (PS3)

S.R.
Blitz: The League II is a Football game released for the Playstation 3. There's a veritable cornucopia of Football on the market, so if you're interested this game's name might have come up. But how does it really compare to recent games? Let's find out.

Story : There is no story here, as this is a Football game. That is, unless you really get into the role-playing aspect of the game as you start a season or career or franchise. Either way, this is a football game and there isn't anything here if you're interested in a great story.

Graphics : The graphics are solidly in the middle. Nothing that blows you away, nothing that looks awful. Basically this game is average compared to the insane detail of the Football games. In fact, I'd say it's just slightly worse. The graphics look comparable to the PS2 release of this game. Still though, there's some cool details here such as the crowd, the weather, and the injury inducing tackles. But there's nothing to blow your mind.

Sound : This game has a whole mess of generic top 40 garbage in the form of some rap and rock tracks. If you have any sensible music taste, you will probably hate all the music in this game. I'm not saying it's totally unredeemable, but this game is obviously made for teenagers and if you have a brain developed past that age group you will probably roll your eyes at the music selections in this game. The sound effects are decent, and some of the injury sound designs are quite brutal. Out of that, nothing great but still solid.

Game play : This game plays like the first Blitz. Good or bad? That depends on whether or not you own the first one. If you do you pretty much have no reason to buy this game as they're nearly identical. Still though, this game is really great for a fun short game and a cheap thrill and that's exactly what it aims to be. There's nothing here to be extremely challenging or to rack your brain. You simply plug in and go.

The controls are quite good, very responsive and sensitive. The difficulty of the game is fairly low, the computer does employ cheap tactics sometimes but it's only there to give you a false sense of difficulty. Put simply, this game is pretty easy but that isn't necessarily a bad thing for what it's supposed to be.

Re playability : Very re playable, a mindless football game you pick up and drop as you need to.

Overall : 5/10. Awful soundtrack, decent graphics, fun non-challenging game play. Decent game all around.
