Blizzard in New Jersey

A Year of Poems: Day Three Hundred and Sixty-One

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
All day yesterday it snowed so hard
That you couldn't believe your eyes
The wind blew with all its might
And children woke up with delightful sighs!

Two feet of snow
Is no small thing
The wind is still gusting
Which makes the cold sting!

So drink some cocoa
And eat some good soup
Then get your hat, boots and gloves
And don't forget to put salt on your stoop!

My son, his family, and I drove through that snowstorm when we took a trip to New York from their home in Virginia. So glad to be home. And glad it has died down. Hope it stays that way for you.

Amazing blizzard. I heard it was of historical and epic proportions. Wow...glad you were home and safe.

I was living back East for the Blizzard of '78. Living through one is enough!

We didn't get nearly as much snow as you did, but I have a feeling it's going to be a harsh winter!
