Blizzard's Celestial Steed Revealed

Blizzard announced a new feature for its hugely popular online game World of Warcraft. Over the past year or so, Blizzard has added many enhanced features to World of Warcraft, aimed at making the gaming experience more enjoyable for users. These include switching races, switching factions between horde and alliance, renaming your character, and transferring your character to another realm. Of course, Blizzard has set a price for all of these transactions, which seems to always be twenty-five dollars.

Today, Blizzard announced another upgrade for World of Warcraft players. New mounts will now be available for sale at Blizzard's World of Warcraft online store. The first special mount that is being offered for sale is the Celestial Steed which you can see in the picture above. The features of the Celestial Steed will be tied to skills and levels that the player has in the game.

Blizzard is selling the Celestial Steed for...surprise....twenty-five dollars. And, the mount is selling out. The Blizzard website has estimates of how many Celestial Steeds have been sold, and how many hours it will take from the time you purchase the mount to when it is available for use in the game. Estimates for the deliver time of the Celestial Steed have ranged between two and seven hours.

The Celestial Steed is a flying mount and land mount combined. Its body is in the form of a constellation with mist and armor over the top. Although I have a rampant World of Warcraft addiction and recently shelled out twenty five dollars to move my main character to a realm that most of my family is playing on, I cannot find any inherent value in paying Blizzard twenty-five dollars for a virtual mount. Even an awesome Celestial Steed.

Oh, what's that? It moves at three-hundred percent speed? Well, then that's another matter. It looks like I may be purchasing a Celestial Steed after all. Some World of Warcraft players are reporting that the Celestial Steed becomes available to all of your characters once you purchase it. I'm not sure about that. I would love to have a faster moving mount though. Man all that walking around is really tiring. Perhaps I should check it out. Blizzard, here I come!
