Blockbuster Video Restocking Fee of $1.25 After 7 Days Due Date Stinks! What Happened to the "No Late Fees Policy?"

Phillip W. Chambley
Blockbuster Video has highly advertised over and over for years "No Late Fees?" But, yet they charge a $1.25 restocking fee after (7) seven days of your due date? And also if you do NOT return this video or any item after 30 days you will automatically be charged the full price of the rented merchandise via your credit card on file with Blockbuster which many lawsuits have been filed regarding this problem for weekly customers.

Blockbuster Video has been known throughout the South here in U.S.A. as an awarding winning video rental public merchandiser. As opposed to Hollywood Video, which has slowly declined into oblivion. "I am NOT even sure if this company is still is business?" "Blockbuster has surely given them the run of the mill!" However, if this false advertisement continues, Blockbuster may also find themselves in the same deli-ma as Hollywood Video.

So what happened to the "No late fees charge?" with Blockbuster? "Did some high ranking jerk on the Blockbuster executive board decide one day that customers will still have to pay the price of being late?" He or she probably thought? Customers are just TOO stupid to notice this small fee, and they will never know the difference if we subtract this $1.25 charge from their credit card and or checking account after they return this video (7) seven days late after the due date on their monthly statement?

"Better yet?" Blockbuster most likely claims if this stupid customer does NOT return this rented video merchandise after 30 days, they can charge them the full price and hopefully they will never see these charges on their credit card bill? "DUH!" They charged my spoiled rotten irresponsible son $38.95 on his credit card bill, which my rich divorced ex-wife seems to keep with each month. (She pointed out this mistake to him and ironically paid it).

This seems to be a number one problem with so many companies nowadays gouging credit card consumers on a daily basis. My theory is with Blockbuster: "Let's charge the customer a LITTLE BIT of money and they will NEVER notice it? Rich people will mostly never see the charge? Does Visa Credit Card company care? "NO" They will reverse the charges if you take the time to report it to them. "Who has got the time to report a $1.25 credit card Blockbuster charge?"

For a U.S. buck and 25 cents, "Who has the time!" Blockbuster has the same policy as all these other "Rip-Off U.S.A. merchandisers" Read the small and fine print regarding your agreement once you give them your credit card number. What they are actually stating in their policy is? By giving us your credit number on file, we have the right to charge you at anytime, based on your agreement that you have signed with this small piece of paper. "DUH?"

I am with you in this boat of finding out Blockbuster has sent my account for collection without my knowledge. I never received anything in the mail nor did I personally ever receive a telephone call from the store. It has been my understanding they would bill you for any balance you might owe so why am I being sent some damn collection notice? I guess they can do anything to the consumer unless we decide it is illegal.

The employee did say yes, there are late fees, calling it a restocking fee is just a way around it the "no fees" policy. His words, not mine.

I had mine out maybe a week past return date, it was like a 5-7 day rental. got charged on teh card. Returned it next day of seeing the charge, I only got refunded part. They call the $1.34 a restocking fee. Now couple of months ago, I had 3 movies out and although then I was not refunded the full amount, I could swear the divided restocking fee would've been less than $1.34 for each. So does it vary per the amount of time cuz I had the earlier ones out a whole lot longer. It seems they're going to charge you a fee whether you return it quickly or months down the road. If it doesnt' vary, I should jsut keep the thing longer. Now I have never had my card charged again 30 days because I always returned it shortly thereafter, I dont' know if that happens. The employee I spoke with said I had essentially purchased it and to take it back, they bought it bck. He says the fee is printed on all receipts, in store, and application agreements which I will doublecheck. He did say yes t

I would like to say that I have been trying to get my credit in order and I ahve been doing a good job of it... until I get a call today from a collection agency telling me that I owe $27 to Blockbuster for a movie I had misplaced while moving, found a month later and turnedback in (reassured it would be credited back to my account by the teenager behind the counter), the movie was reintroduced into inventory, rented a few times, then sold for the hot price of $9.99. So while all this is going on, my "debt" to blockbuster was sold to a collection agency who called me today, I called blockbuster who still showed the balance on my account... how many negatives have we counted here? first off, BB requires SSN's to be provided to open an account! so the collection is being placed on my credit! This sounds a little illegal to me doesn't it? I want to make sure Blockbuster doesn't do this again... I want to gather people together to sue them for ruining credit! NON PAYMENT is not funny and if
