Blogs for Mommy Sewers

Suzie West
I won't lie. My sewing machine is gathering dust in the back of a closet somewhere. I can actually sew though, and in the past I've mostly made home décor items. Now that I'm a mother, I've become very interested in sewing children's items like pillowcase dresses, rompers, bibs, and burp cloths. While I wait for my little one to grow a bit bigger and I have more time for my craft, I love to read mommy sewer blogs. Blogs are great tools for tutorials and crafty inspirations. Here are five of my favorite sewer blogs for moms like me.

Luvinthemommyhood

This blog is flooded with beautiful inspirations for sewing projects. The best part about this blog is that it also appeals to the mommy knitter. In fact, the whole month of April is devoted to guest bloggers dueling knitting versus sewing projects!

Made by Rae

Rae is a mommy who frequently uses her own children as subjects for her sew inspirations. She has patterns, tutorials, and beautiful pictures on her blog. She can make any intermediate project look simple.

Craft Gossip
Craft Gossip is more than a blog. It's a culmination of ideas from various different sites into one cozy little blog place. Here you'll find ideas directly from Martha Stewart to the "average Joe" blogger. I love the versatility of the various projects ideas besides just sewing. Craft Gossip also has free printables and tutorials for the mommy looking for convenience.

Sew Sensible

Sew Sensible has a HUGE assortment of patterns. Not only that, but there are lists of other sewers who are also interested in sewing children's items. I love the boutique feel of the patterns on this site.

The Crafty Nest

Confession time!! This is my favorite craft blog! Vanessa does an amazing job of including her own personal life and experiences, along with her crafting tutorials. While she has many items devoted to sewing, you'll also find other craft avenues such as knitting. She also has plenty of giveaways for those that love to win craft items.

Whatever your craft passion, there are plenty of blogs out there to inspire you. Keeping track of all the blogs can become overwhelming. Web feeders like Google Reader and RSS can help you keep up to date with the latest posts of your favorite blogs in one convenient place. Once you've organized your blogs to feed into your personalized feed page, you can sit back, relax with a glass of wine, and become inspired to sew!
