Blood Death Knight Vs. Affliction Warlock

Let me start by saying that I have a lot of experience in world of warcraft and considered myself one of the best in stormstrike until I retired a few months ago. I play every now and then just for kicks but devote most of my time sharing tips and tricks with others. I have played every class at 80 and know probably every trick there is to know. You don't need the best gear, or enchants, and epic gems to win. You just need to be calm, and follow my guide.

As a blood death knight there are some classes you love to see running by themselves, and there are some that you avoid. All death knights hate two things, Shamans and other Death Knights. You probably hate fighting other death knights the most, but after this, maybe you will have a change in heart.

First of all let me recommend a deep blood build with dancing rune weapon and dip into frost for lichborne and annihilation. If you need specific builds, go to my website www.wowtalentspecs.com . This guide is based on a build similar to this with rune tap, hysteria, vampiric blood, lichborne, and dancing rune weapon. You also need to learn to key bind if you are not already. This is a huge help and cuts down on the time your eyes are off the enemy.

I will go through a lot of different scenarios with you. Along the way I will throw in some tips you may have never saw before and some strategies that I know you have never used.

All warlocks (especially affliction) evolve very fast with good gear. You will find that at lower gear levels, warlocks are easy, and at higher gear levels, warlocks are one of the hardest opponents. Warlocks and warriors both scale very well as gear gets better.

You will fight this one in unholy or blood presence. This all depends on if you have problems being kited or not. I personally fight warlocks in blood presence, but if you seem to get kited by warlocks too much, simply go unholy presence.

This fight has a really good chance at ending very fast. Warlocks have some of the lowest armor and you will be immune to fear with lichborne. Affliction can heal well so you will have to utilize mind freeze on UA and siphon life. Good warlocks have been known to hearth fake before siphon life so watch for this.

You don't want a fight with an affliction warlock to go for long so you will start very fast.

As you are closing the gap, use IT to get frost fever on. Right when you get in howl of terror range use AMS, hit plague strike, then hit your DRW macro. Right after the macro, use lichborne. Your starting rotation should be OB,OB,HS,HS with DRW up. If you land all of the attacks, I see 50% of the warlocks i fight dead. At higher pvp gear levels, you will end this with about 90% health and dotted up, and the lock will be at 50% or less.

This fight is a simple one. You can do nothing about the dots so the best thing to do is finish the fight fast. You want to use rune tap and MOB on the pet if you haven't killed it with HS.

After DRW wears off, you want to cancel hysteria and use your next trinket. Stick to your core rotation IT,PS,OB,HS,HS.

It is important to mind freeze any channeled spells and UA. If you lock him out of shadow, it is as good as a silence. I use strangulate following my AMS to begin the battle. If you want to save this, or have a hard time bursting warlocks down, save it for when the lock is low and you need a few extra seconds to finish the job.

All in all, warlocks should not pose a huge problem. Warlocks are not great kiters, and they have limited snares. All of their CCs are stoppable by you. The only real thing you have to worry about is a death coil fear chain. This will not happen if you are in AMS and he is silenced for the first seconds of the battle.

If you are getting feared before you can close the gap, use your death grip. It is not really needed in the battle except following a death coil (is where i use it). This will get you the jump if you are having a hard time getting the fast start you need in this fight.
