Blood Diamond Review

Leonardo DiCaprio has certainly made his way into the list of the elite American actors. In the way Leonardo uses his natural instincts into everyone of his roles, makes his acting and performances that much more believable. He has this sort of charisma that beautifully shows on the big screen and does such an excellent job in doing son, he also has the ability to make the viewers get emotionally attached to his character and the story. It's quite difficult to name another male American actor aside from the always great Johnny Depp that is constantly providing their viewers their money's worth and Leonardo DiCaprio fits this category. It's both Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio that have simply taken over the reins from other fellow actors both Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks, as these two have a combined history of Oscar winning titles to their name and considered future legends of the movie business, they'll eventually settle into the more serious roles.

In the movie the Blood Diamond, it's simply Leonardo DiCaprio himself that raises others expectations and delivers a solid performance worth mentioning. He also helps exceed the film's basic Hollywood script (not that there's anything wrong with it since it is rather solid) but makes it even better and something a little more memorable. In this movie he plays a cunning diamond smuggler and gives a great performance of that in the movie The Departed as Billy Costigan, although the characters aren't all that different from each other. This movie might just be the best movie he's ever acted in, it certainly rivals that of the role he took in the movie the Titanic as Jack Dawson.

I absolutely enjoyed watching the movie the Blood Diamond because it had so much passion that I have never seen before in any of the other previous movies. The movie simply became what it was, a success because Leonardo raised and exceeded all expectations through his character Danny Archer by using what he thought his character would be like and act in the situations he constantly finds himself in. If I read this script before this movie was made, I probably wouldn't have made Leonardo the main star of the movie, I would cast him off because I didn't think he had it in him to pull it off. Since I saw this movie, I can't really see anyone else that can play the role of Danny Archer other than Leonardo DiCaprio himself, it's a true winning performance on his part.

Djimon Hounsou did I pretty decent job acting in his film, the onscreen chemistry he had with Leonardo DiCaprio were out of this world. He did a wonderful job in showing so much of his emotion that the viewers could feel it as well, something that happens throughout the movie. He shows so many mixed feelings of emotion whether he felt pride, fear, desperation, loyalty or even mistrust it was all beautifully done in such a way that he elevated his acting above all expectations even with his small role.

Jennifer Connelly also did a decent job in the role as the journalist that wants to somehow make a difference. I find her quite appealing in her role because not only does she bring her intelligence to the table but she also doesn't let her beauty get in the way of her acting. She did well in many scenes that Leonardo and Djimon were in, they made quite the trio in this movie. This movie is indeed a must watch movie, it gets two thumbs up by me for the movies shear genius. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
