1. Knowledge
Teacher says or asks: RECALL what was the rumor about Christy.
Students Respond: The rumor was that Christy loved Sam.
2. Comprehension
Teacher says or asks: Briefly SUMMARIZE this role-play.
Students Respond: Accept reasonable re-telling of this story.
3. Application
Teacher says or asks: DETERMINE what was wrong with the first way Roxanne and Courtney approached Christy and what was so much better about their second approach.
Students Respond: The first time, they accused Christy rather than asked her. The second time, they asked her and gave her a chance to explain. Also, they did not believe her the first time and they did believe her the second time.
4. Analysis
Teacher says or asks: DEBATE what was mean about their opinion of Sam and CONTRAST how they should have handled the whole situation should Christy have said, "Yes, I like Sam."
Students Respond: The two girls immediately jumped to the conclusion that just because they found Sam to be ugly, that Christy had no business liking him. Instead, they could have approached her and said, "Christy, we heard that you like Sam. Is that true?" If Christy should have happened to have said that she did like him, they could then say, "Well, you are our friend and we support your decision. You have the right to like whomever you want. We don't really like his looks, but perhaps you do and that's okay."
5. Synthesis
Teacher says or asks: Roxanne and Courtney assumed that just because they found Sam to be ugly, everybody in the world would also feel that he was ugly. PREDICT which people probably found Sam to be nice to look at and DESIGN and CREATE a way that even more people could find Sam to be pleasant to look at and to be around.
Students Respond: Accept Reasonable Answers
6. Evaluation
Teacher says or asks: There is an old saying that the lightning you wish to strike another person must travel through your body first. EVALUATE what this old saying means and DECIDE how it might apply to Roxanne and Courtney.
Students Respond: Accept Reasonable Answers
