Years ago, I was a high school senior searching for a college or university that fit me and I felt comfortable at. There were certain criterion that I ultimately based my decision on, and it was Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania that I chose in the end.

I chose to attend Bloomsburg was for various reasons. I had first heard about it from a family friend who had received her masters in special education there and was very pleased. Shortly thereafter, I visited the campus and immediately fell in love with it. I knew it was the place for me because everything about it simply felt right.

When you walk onto the campus, you immediately feel welcomed. You feel like you are home. You have a beautiful view of the mountains and you are surrounded by well kept landscape and buildings, some of which still have a warm old fashioned brick style to them. The campus is not too large, but not too small either. There are beautiful trees and flowers and there is always someone enjoying a game of catch, football, or a chat outside with friends. Bloomsburg provides the ultimate college feel without being in your face about it.

There are various dormitories, all of which have been renovated over the past few years, and apartment complexes, including newly built ones on upper campus. The apartments are well built with air conditioners to keep you comfortable during the warm months away at school.

All sports take place on upper campus. The Bloomsburg Huskies offer a wide range of sports, including intramurals for those who would like to participate in sports, but not at the serious professional college level. There is also a massive newly renovated gym free to all students. It is equipped with basketball courts, which are also used for hockey, racquetball courts, a rock-climbing wall, weight rooms, workout rooms equipped with tons of workout machines and equipment, dance rooms, and a large track.

The college offers a wide range of majors, minors, and concentrations for every type of mind and interest at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Majors involve all types of sciences, history, art, music, mass communications/media studies, theatre/drama, English, foreign languages, writing, mathematics, accounting, finance, computer science, business, business information systems, instructional technology, management, education, special education, audiology and speech-language pathology, nursing, medical imaging, political science, criminal justice, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, amongst many more.

Buildings all over campus provide computer labs with modern computers, high-speed internet, copiers, printers, and all the tools you'll need to get all your work done and in on time. Oh, and do not fear! There is a Starbucks inside the campus library, so you can get the energy boost you need while studying or working on those dreaded group projects.

The university also provides various clubs and fraternities and sororities. There are so many different types of clubs, that even the laziest of students could find one they are interested in. There is basically a club that corresponds to each type of major and there are lots of volunteer clubs that allow students the opportunity to help those less fortunate in the community. If volunteering isn't your thing, then there are also lots of clubs for people with specialized interests or skills.

The college offers many events and activities throughout the year to keep students entertained and happy. These include free pizza/music nights, free movies on the big screen, BINGO nights, casino night, pool tables, dances, theatre, professional traveling musicals/shows, popular professional singers/bands and comedians, amongst other fun college nights.

I attended Bloomsburg University for undergrad and graduate school and they truly were the best, most memorable years of my life. I learned a lot, met wonderful people, experienced the true Pennsylvania country feel, enjoyed new foods and drinks, and lots of fun memorable times on and off campus!
