The information stored in the Blu-Ray disc is compressed more and the area where it is stored is also smaller when compared to the pits in the DVDs and CDs. The volume stored is proportional to the number of pits present. The stored information is deciphered by passing a blue colored laser beam and due to this the discs are named as Blu-ray discs. Though they are identical with the DVDs and CDs they cannot always be read by the CD or DVD players and also the backward compatibility is not possible most of the time.
With the recent trend in animation and sound, the application of Blu-ray technology has become indispensable. The fine resolution required of the movies that are made today, can be provided only by the Blu ray technology. And the incessant demand for these Blu ray DVDs and CDs has forced the manufacturers to think on the lines of duplication and also replication. Blu ray replication is expensive due to the elaborate making process and the license procedures. Moreover they are not much in demand like the Blu ray duplication.
Blu ray duplication on the other hand, is considerably cheaper and is readily available on demand. The Blu ray duplicating companies do the process in different formats like BD-R, Dual Layer, CD-RW and CD-RE. The duplicating tower is programmed to identify the various formats and create rewritable discs mechanically. The tower also has the capacity to edit the image formed by the Blu ray duplication process. Further the tower is also equipped with hard drive partition system which carries out hard drive partitions efficiently based on the size of the image present, economically using the hard disk space in the process. Other ingenious characteristics of the duplicating tower include two-layered security and password protection measures.
The capacity of the duplicating towers is such that in a span of one hour, the Blu ray duplication can be done on two complete discs. This is enormous in proportion with the huge amount of information that a single Blu ray disc can hold. But the time factor is not constant and it may increase or decrease based on the type of project that the company involves in and also the number of units and the quantity of data that needs to be duplicated.
