BluBlocker sunglasses are purported to relieve eye strain by blocking blue light. According to the manufacturer, blue light causes haziness in vision and it is harder on the eyes. While I did not know the cause of my eye strain or photophobia, the BluBlocker sunglasses were effective at relieving my eye strain and allowing me to function outdoors on days when my eye strain or photophobia would act up.
Compared to regular polarized sunglasses, BluBlocker sunglasses relieved my eye strain much better. Although the same brightness of light would come through the lenses, the lack of blue light was easier on my eyes than the dampened light from conventional polarized sunglasses.
An added benefit to BluBlocker sunglasses is the interesting orange-yellow colors that things appear to be when viewed through the BluBocker lenses. Since all of the blue light is blocked, greens and oranges show up much more clearly and crisply. This allows you to see the leaves on trees more clearly, and it is easier for the eyes to make distinctions between nearby objects. Anything that ordinarily looks blue appears black, gray, or olive green through the BluBlocker sunglasses. Although this can take some getting used to, it is actually much easier to see things in this artificial color caused by the BluBlocker lenses.
In conclusion, although BluBlocker sunglasses are not a genuine treatment for any medical eye condition, I found them to be very effective at relieving my own severe eye strain and photophobia. Before the BluBlocker sunglasses, I was barely able to open my eyes, go outside, or drive on days when my eyes were particularly sensitive to light. However, the BluBlocker sunglasses allowed me to function somewhat normally, to get to work, and to avoid the misery of itchy, red, light-sensitive eyes. They worked better than eye drops, polarized sunglasses, and allergy medicines. If you are suffering from any symptoms of eye strain or light sensitivity, you should try BluBlocker sunglasses.
