Review
The follow up to Blue Defense, Blue Attack finds the player attacking the red planet. The game, developed by John Kooistra, comes with outstanding graphics. The graphics may not be as detailed as other shooting games available, but the game itself does not suffer because of that. The unique graphical style somehow even improves game play.
The game has two play modes - the campaign mode and the endless mode. Players on campaign mode need to work through the game levels, going through the red planet's defenses until the player reaches the planet itself. Players on endless mode simply fight a succession of waves of the ship deployed by the red planet with the difficulty increasing with every new wave of ships.
Players accumulate resources upon successfully clearing a level. Several power-up are also available. The game has a tutorial feature that walks new players through the entirety of the game, including the power-up and what they can do.
Game controls are exceptional. Players have the option of choosing between the touch screen and the accelerometer. When using the accelerometer, players can adjust the calibration to allow for better controls.
The only obvious drawback to the game is the size of the screen, or the game in relation to the size of the screen. It can get cramped.
The game is nearly perfect, with just a few minor things that need a bit of an adjustment. Aside from these minor gripes, the game is an excellent app - fun and addictive!
Pricing
Blue Attack is available on the iTunes store for $1.99 - a great price for an even greater game!
Conclusion
Blue Attack's graphics, music, sound effects, game controls, game play and replay value are all exceptional. The game gets a superb rating of 5 out of 5. Very highly recommended!
