Tom Selleck's new show "Blue Bloods" is one of my favorite shows. I consider it a "Law & Order" meets "The Walton's" type show. It is a great police drama that also concentrates on family as it follows New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. Frank Reagan played by Selleck is the head of a family of police officers and his daughter who is an assistant DA. Spoiler alert for "Blue Bloods" "End of Innocence" episode.
"End of Innocence" starts with Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) having dinner with his niece Nicki. Nicki is asking Danny questions about police work for a school paper. They are interrupted when Danny is called to a homicide scene. Nicki talks Danny into taking her and promises to remain in the car. Of course she does not and slips under the crime tape and sees the body of a murdered young girl. This causes her some nightmares later and infuriates her mother at Danny.
The murdered girl is found outside a cotillion for the oh so social elite snob young people and their handlers. A hooker is seen on surveillance tape arguing with the murder victim before her death. It is later determined that the girl was murdered by a person she had befriended on Facebook. When she found out he was "an old man" she became angered and the man choked her to death.
Also during "End of Innocence" Jamie and his partner chase a tagger who was spray painting buildings. They lose him but find a text book he dropped during the chase. After they find him they let him go with a warning when they find he is the first of his family to go to college, and is studying art and has talent.
Nicki struggles with her desire to be a police officer and Frank tells her she is strong enough and that she is a Reagan. Erin wants her daughter to not be a police officer and talks to Frank about that.
Sami Gayle did a fine job as Nicki Reagan Boyle in the "Blue Bloods" "End of Innocence" episode. I thought she handled her part as well as most young actresses could have done. I believe the role of Nicki Reagan will be expanded even more next year and that Sami Gayle well prepared for that. I love the entire cast of "Blue Bloods" and look forward to future episodes.
