Blue Eyes: How to Make Your Peepers Pop

Creating sultry, fun, flirty looks with eye makeup is an art that takes a lot of skill and practice. What if your eyes are blue though? Although all eye colors come in a wide spectrum, blue eyes have many variations ranging from light to dark with several mixed hues. Blue eyes against different skin tones makes choosing the right shade of eye shadow seem like a guessing game.

Like any other eye color, the proper makeup can make your blue eyes pop. On the other hand, the wrong color choices can take away that sparkle, leaving your eyes lifeless.

Colors

Blue eyes look good in neutral colors such as gold, copper and brown eye shadows. There are hundreds of variations of these shades, so you can choose the ones you like best. Blue eyes can pop with certain blue and purple shades, also. Depending on the shade, some of the blue and purple colors are great to create that smokey effect.

What about eyeliner?

Black is always the quintessential eyeliner for many people, but that's not the only color available. Blue eyes can be accentuated by black eyeliner, but with care. The hue of your eyes may be dulled with a black liner. Luckily, blue eyes also look good with blue liners, with navy blue as a go-to color.

Besides the blue options, dark eye shadow and beige shimmery shadow sticks can also accentuate blue eyes. Use a small pencil brush to use dark shadows along the lower lash line. Shimmery beige can also line the lower lash line, if you plan to apply darker eyeliner to the water line of your eye.

Eyelashes

Finish your blue eyes by curling your eyelashes and applying rich black or dark brown mascara. The brands are nearly limitless, so use your favorite type.

Be certain your eyelash curler is clean and free of leftover mascara. The excess mascara can act as an adhesive and cause the lashes to stick the curler. This is the quickest, simplest way to yank your eyelashes out.

Don't have eye lashes

If you weren't blessed with long, lush lashes, use false eyelashes. Although you may not want to use them on a regular basis, the falsies are good for special occasions, dates and events. Eyelashes are offered in several lengths, and usually accompanied by eyelash glue and easy instructions. Once the lashes are in place, don't forget to add extra glue to the outer and inner corners of the eye. These are the first places the lashes may lift.
