Blues for Halloween

Rhetta Akamatsu
I love Halloween just as much as anyone anywhere, so, just for fun, I thought I would compile a list of 10 great blues songs for Halloween, in no particular order. Most of them are available on YouTube, except for Ida Cox, which is available online as an MP3:

1. Screamin' Jay Hawkins, "I Put a Spell on You," the perfect Halloween song.

2. B.B. King, "Haunted House"

3. Jimi Hendrix, "Voodoo Chile"

4. Robert Johnon, "Hellhound on My Trail"

5. Bo Diddley, "Bo Meets the Monster"

6. Skip James, "Devil Got My Woman"

7. Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, "Black Magic Woman" (a bit bluesier than the excellent original)

8. David Bromberg, "Don't Put That Thing on Me" ( a Clifford Gibson tune about voodoo)

9. Son House, "Jinx Blues"

10. Ida Cox, "Fogyism"

Please feel free to add your own favorite blues songs with a Halloween-connected theme in the comment section!
