Blush Application Tips and Products for Tan Skin

Sophia S. Mark
A huge part of maintaining that end of summer sun kissed look that you have with tanned skin is to use the right makeup and apply it properly. To get a beautiful and bronzed look, you need the right blush to sweep onto your cheeks for a natural glow. Cheek tints and stains are the best blush option when your skin is tanned, but there are a few that do the job better and make applying easier. Here are my favorite blushes to use on tan skin and how I apply them.

Benefit Poisetint, $28

Benefit lip and cheek stain has long been the preferred stain of make up artists and women everywhere. Perfect for the summer months, darker skin, or for those nights you decide to go tanning because it works on every skin tone when it blend in rather than blending on. The new Benefit Poisetint creates a natural looking blush with the new gel like formula that takes even better to your skin with a gel to cream texture. With Poisetint less is better and I find that dabbing rather than spreading works best.

Sonia Kashuk Beauty Sheep Bliss Lip & Cheek Tint, $8

The new Sonia Kashuk like is exclusive to Target and is one of the best beauty lines I have found available at a mass retailer of this type. The little tube of cheek tint comes with an easy to use roller ball application, so you don't have to ever use your fingers if you run out of sponge applicators. With a tanned complexion the berry color will adjust to your skin tone giving you just the right amount of color so that you glow rather than looking like you over applied. A great deal for the price tag and results.

DuWop Cheek Venom, $24

DuWop's conditioning blush is my find of the year. After falling in love with Lip Venom by the same brand, I found the moisturizing and perfectly blendable cheek venom that is full on luscious. There is no over the top color here, but it is make a tanned complexion look sun kissed. I also like that the blush is meant to be moisturizing, when you have it on your cheeks are baby soft and when you take it off you don't loose that soft to the touch feel. To apply, use your finger and gently blend into your cheeks.

Marimekko For Avon All Over Face Palette in Poppy Bouquet, $9

A little something new and interesting from Avon are the palettes from Marimekko, a Finnish textiler with very iconic designs. Marimekko clothing, fabric and bags and now makeup have been popping up everywhere with increasingly positive results, and the newest collaboration with Avon is no exception. The all over face palette will probably be one of the prettiest palettes you will ever own, but it is the powder itself that you will fall in love with. After summer is through and your tan begins to fade, you can grab a brush and get that beautiful glow back in all the right places.

This is a great option for those who are a little hesitant about using stains and tints, and at $9 it is worth stocking up because you never know when Avon will decide to discontinue any product.
