BMW Z4 Roadster to Hit India in Mid-2009

BMW India, the luxury car manufacturer will launch the two-seater roadster Z4 in India this year. The luxury car manufacturer is likely to launch three more new cars for the growing Indian car market to take advantage of the stupendous momentum of growth.

The Z4 sports car gets a retractable hard top and sDrive technology for enhanced driving experience. It can achieve a top speed of 250 km/h. It will be available in the price bracket of Rs 50-60 lakh in the second half of the this year.

Meanwhile, BMW also plans to launch the petrol and diesel variants of the newly launched BWM 7-series, which is priced at Rs 81 lakh and Rs 77 lakh, respectively. It is expected to hit the Indian car market in June.

The Luxury car segment reported the highest growth rate of 22 percent in the fiscal year ending on March 2009, after selling nearly 6,671 luxury cars so far. BMW recorded a growth of 15 percent in the first quarter of 2009, higher than it nearest rival Mercedes-Benz. The company is now focusing on tier-II cities to increase its market share. BMW has announced that it is opening ten more dealerships in the smaller cities, where high demand has been reported. It already has 12 car dealerships in 10 major cities across India.
