BMX Racers & Freestylists Can Receive Free Coaching

No Matter What Level of Ability

E. Hignutt
For the months of August & September, BikeTeamOne.com is offering free training. For those who are willing or nearby to travel to South Jersey, arrangements can be made to meet up with the coach for some one-on-one tips to improve your performance.

Coaching is provided by experienced BMX racers, and a licensed USA Cycling coach. Thinking X-Games here? Guarantee you that those guys have coaches. Thinking Olympics? USA Cycling is the governing organization over the athletes that go to the Olympics. And USA Cycling coaches train them.

So whether you want more air when you do those tail whips, or you need to learn to manual through a rhythm section, here's your chance.

Free offer? Yup. Free training. And yup, sure there's a catch or two. They like posts for their website. So some of the training questions, comments, and tips will be posted on the site. They also like video clips and pics. If you got 'em and want to see them on the web (besides just on myspace) you can send them along and they'll add it to their picture gallery.

For the freestylists -- this just hot off the press -- send them a pic or video clip of your coolest trick; the best submission will be featured in an article on the site and given a dedicated page for the year. Show off your stuff and make your friends envious. Please be sure to wear your helmet and protective gear. Deadline for clip submission if October 1st, 2007. Winners will be announced by the 15th (T-shirts are part of the awards, as are a variety of coaching programs, publications, etc). And welcome to the First Annual Freestyle Frenzy. See the site for more details. Got your submission ready? Register at the site and submit it via a post. The option to register is on the right hand sidebar down towards the bottom.

Other catches? Yup. Limited space for the free training. Only so many spots available. But when they're gone, they'll save your info and offer you up the next available chance. (Training is for a 60 day period beginning the day you receive the first training tip.)

And how does this work? Well, that's what the internet is for. And cameras, and digital video. If you have such video, great. They'll watch it, critique it, mark spots on the clip and send it back with details. If you don't, well that makes things a bit tougher, but they can provide some clips of their own as examples and offer specific drills to improve the skills necessary.

Ready to take advantage of this? Good. Go to the site, register and write a post. Tell the good folks there why you want the training. (Those under 18 will require parent's permission.)
