Bo Bice was fortunate that the year he was on Idol that they had raised the age limit from 24 to 28 and Bice was able to try out. At the time he was nearly 29 but just made the age cut off. Bo's first single released back in 2005 was very successful on the music charts but a problem with an intestinal disease kind of put his career on the back burner as he had to have surgery and significant recovery time. He also got married around that time frame and he never really got to break out while the match was still hot so to say. He missed the window of opportunity to take advantage of the time where his season of Idol was still widely remembered and didn't get to cash in on that opportunity at that time, and he was dropped by RCA records. Bice eventually started his own record label in a partnership with Strategic Artist Management called Sugar Money/State Art.
A great opportunity arrived for Bice when Ben Stiller invited him to do the title song for the movie Blades of Glory whose soundtrack was released in 2007. Bo also released See the Light in 2007. He also released The Real Thing in 2005.
Bice's new CD 3 is a combination Country, Soul, and Rock and Roll. Bo penned more than 20 songs to choose from for his new album but eventually ended up with 10 songs on the CD. He worked with: Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman and keyboardist A.J. Croce, son of the legendary Jim Croce. And fellow American Idol contestant Melinda Doolittle guests on background vocals on the song 'Get on and Ride.
Keep on Rollin (combination Country and Sou)
Different Shades of Blue (Country - Ballad) this is a very pretty song.
Coming Back Home
Good Hearted Woman (Country)
Lonely Broke and Wasted (Country)
Who Knows What (rock/soul)
Long Road Back
Wild Roses (Country)
Get on and Ride (rock/soul/country)
You Take Yourself With You (Country/ballad)
Most of the songs have a country influence to them and he sounds really good. Although Bice came across as a rocker his voice sounds really good in country style, and I think this album will do well in the country music world.
I like the album a lot the ballads are very pretty and the othe songs are all pretty upbeat and have a great rhythm to them and his voice sounds good and solid.
