Boat Show in Stuart, Florida

36th Annual Event on the Water

Alice L. Luckhardt
Since 1973 when Stuart was a very quiet, laid-back town along the East Coast of Florida, a special tradition has grown and been maintained in the community, that of showcasing the wonderful and outstanding boating activities available in the area. Stuart has the St. Lucie River, the Indian River, Lake Okeechobee and the Atlantic Ocean bordering and surrounding the city. During the last 36 years, Stuart has proudly been center stage by offering the annual Stuart Boat Show alongside the majestic Roosevelt Bridge and flanked by the breathtaking St. Lucie River.

The three-day event is set for January 15 - 17, 2010 in Stuart. The hours for Friday and Saturday will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Three locations bordering each other will host the grand show. Coming northbound or southward at the northern base of the Roosevelt Bridge at Dixie Highway and near Wright Boulevard will be Stuart Harbor Marina, 54 N. Dixie Highway, then Allied Richard Bertram Marina at 110 N. Dixie Highway and HMY's Waterway Marina, 290 N. Dixie Highway. There will be free parking and shuttle buses for all in attendance. Across the St. Lucie River, along the Stuart City Hall docks, water taxis will also be available. General admission is $10 per person each day with children under age 10 admitted free.

There will be some 500 boats of all types, sizes and description. Boats in the water and on land are a special feature of the Stuart Boat Show, allowing visitors to come on board to inspect the vessels first-hand. Everything from yachts to power boats to fishing boats, in many different price ranges, with both new and used items. It is expected to draw over 170 exhibitors with a vast array of marine products. All types of accessories, marine equipment and other water crafts, like wave runners, will be on exhibit and for sale.

Stuart Boat Show is supported by the Marine Industry Association of the Treasure Coast. For the last 15 years, the Stuart Boat Show has been run by Rick Allen, founder of Miami-based AllSports Productions Inc, which produces the show.

Based on its great success in January 2009, included again will be Cruiser Expo providing its own special types of information, demonstrations and entertainment related to boating. There will be at least 26 informative programs presented during the three-days.

Stuart is very easy to drive to using I-95 or the Florida Turnpike with a very friendly and beautiful city to spend a nice weekend. This all-family event has a great tradition and the show for 2010 is expected to continue in its fine form with everyone welcomed aboard.
