Water Sports In Upstate New York

If you prefer to spend your time on the water than on dry land, you'll want to know about activities in the Thousand Island-Seaway region of New York that involve boating, canoeing and kayaking. Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to get your feet wet, so to speak, especially if you consider the number of state and local parks where water activities are part of the main attraction.

Keewaydin State Park is one such example, and is located in beautiful Alexandria Bay, New York in the Thousand Island-Seaway region. The St. Lawrence river offers sheltered marina space for boats, canoes and kayaks, and all boating activities are encouraged. They also have open-air docks for transient visitors, as well as boat rentals for visitors who don't have their own equipment and a marina pump-out station.

You might also enjoy the Bedford Creek Marina & Campground, which is located in Sackets Harbor, New York. This area of the Thousand Island-Seaway region combines rural beauty with the conveniences of home, as most campsites and lakes are within mere miles of small- to medium-sized towns. The marina itself offers sheltered storage, as well as boating, kayaking and canoeing rentals. They also have equipment for waterskiing and other boating activities so you don't have to bring your own.

And in Constantia, New York, which is located in the central part of the Thousand Island-Seaway Region, is Constantia Cove Campground. Here, you'll find everything a boating enthusiast needs, including the excitement of whitewater rafting, and kayaking or canoeing on Mad River. Locals even take weekends off to camp on these historic campgrounds, but Constantia is equally loved by tourists who are just passing through.
