Does the Atlanta Newcomer Live Up to the Hype?

The Reviewer
Atlanta based rapper, song-writer Bobby Ray Simmons better known as B.o.B first hit up the charts with 2008's I'll Be In the Sky. The song was completely different from current urban music and set B.o.B apart as an artist. Now it is time for him to release his debut album B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. Will B.o.B be able to live up to the hype of being one of 2010's most sought after newcomers?

It is hard to escape the first single off of B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, Nothin' On You featuring Bruno Mars. The song is currently the number one song on the Billboard charts and B.O.B has had numerous television performances of the track. The single is one of the best songs of the year featuring B.o.B's easy going rap style and Bruno Mars' incredibly catchy hook.

The second single Airplanes featuring Hayley Williams from Paramore is shooting up the charts like a rocket. In its debut week, the song is now number twelve on the Billboard charts. The track is extremely catchy and will appeal to various audiences.

The album also features Airplanes Part II featuring Eminem. The song features new verses from B.o.B and Eminem along with the same catchy hook from Hayley Williams. The song is taken to a whole other level with Eminem on board.

Lovelier Than You showcases B.o.B's softer acoustic style. The song also finds the Atlanta artist crooning more prominently than rapping.

Past My Shades features Chicago based rapper Lupe Fiasco. The song is a solid track and Lupe Fiasco drops an extremely solid guest appearance.

Magic features Rivers Cuomo from Weezer. This odd combination actually works. The track is definitely bouncy and action packed.

Fame seems to channel some of Eminem's angst and anger. The track will probably appeal to a wide audience.

On Bet I, B.o.B is joined by label head T.I. and Playboy Tre. The song is not one of the strongest tracks on the album but features a solid guest appearance from T.I.

Don't Let Me Fall is another standout track off of the album. The song features strong instrumentation and musical changes throughout.

It seems like B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray has something for everyone. There are solid tracks in so many genres of music. Overall B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray gets 8 out of 10 for being a very solid debut album. If you are a fan of B.o.B make sure you pick up B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray when it is available in stores on April 27th.
