Railroad tracks upon her head
She calls it a zipper instead.
The surgeon took excellent care indeed
And the nurses followed his exceptional lead.
Her mind woke slowly and a bit mixed up
Her left side had stiffened up.
Her leg woke first of all
And allowed her to walk without a fall.
Her memory is coming back
Personality she does not lack.
The left arm and hand she's had trouble controlling
But with each new day the arm she's consoling.
The left had she calls Mr. Gimpy
Stubborn it is but her will is not limpy.
While learning to deal with Mr. Gimpy
She's laughing and smiling and determined at best,
To set some goals and get some rest.

This poem was written on the day I brought Bobbie home from the hospital. I just realized this was jotted down quickly Before I knew she was coming home. A mother's intuition or just coincidence?

Post a CommentI had a karate student who ran past a stopped commuter train in New York, only to be hit by an oncoming train. He was in a coma for what seemed like eternity, but finally came out of it. He went into therapy to re-learn how to walk, talk, and do all the things we take for granted. That was maybe 15 years ago and today he is a fine young man with little showing from his tragic accident. I don't know how badly injured Bobbie is, but suffice it to say that she WILL get better and be just fine. My prayers are with you.

Very nice poem. I am so happy to hear that Bobbie is doing so well! She seems to be taking it all in stride. She is still in our hearts and prayers.
