Bobble Head Figurines with High Detail: Corinthian Headliners Finally Making a Comeback to Sport Collectibles

Jrebound
Corinthian Headliners were bobble head like figurines that depicted superstar athletes in different poses. These collectibles were very popular throughout the mid and late 1990s among sport fans. They only retailed for about three dollars per figure at both hobby shops and Toys "R" Us stores. Each Corinthian Headliner was about three inches tall and at times came with small accessories such as baseball helmets and hockey masks. Unfortunately, Headliners from both basketball and football did not come with any accessories. The basketballs from the NBA Headliners were molded onto their hands, thus making them impossible to remove. According to the www.sportsactionfigure.com/headliners site, the company that released these figurines originated in the UK as Corinthian PLC. Headliners had success, but were in competition with the popular Kenner Starting Lineups action figures. Unlike the Kenner figures, Corinthian Headliners were unarticulated with no movable joints. It was never really setback for collectors since the figurines strongly resembled their favorite athletes. Figuring athletes such as Emmit Smith, Mark McGuire, and Scottie Pippen were highly sought after among collectors. My personal favorite Headliner was NBA's David Robinson from the San Antonio Spurs. He was actually the very first Headliner I ever purchased.

Corinthian Headliners cannot be found big named stores, but can be in hobby shops depending on what city you live in. If you live in a big city such as San Diego or New York, your chances of finding a Corinthian Headliner are high. Your best bet would pretty much be eBay since you can find hundreds of them for very low prices. Corinthian PLC was nice enough to have released four-packs that included superstars in their respective player positions. For example, in the NBA version of these four-packs, you would have four shooting guards, four centers, and four power forward figurines. These can cost you up to five to twenty dollars on eBay depending on how rare they are. These Corinthian Headliners can make terrific gifts for anyone who is into sport memorabilia or just likes sports in general. For some odd reason, these figures are currently a little more popular in Europe and some parts of South America. I am assuming that the people from those places truly love the soccer version of Corinthian Headliners since Soccer is the most popular sport in world.
