Bobby Kennedy - Beyond the Shooting

Nikki Carlyle
Bobby is the most powerful movie I have seen since Crash and Schindler's List. Yes, even V for Vendetta. This movie almost surpassed all the mentioned movies as being my number one..

It is not based on Robert F. Kennedy's life but rather the people that were personally affected with the shooting that took place after his speech at the Ambassador Hotel in 1968. You get to know each person which makes the shooting that more real and that more powerful and thus, although it took place 1968, it feels like it happened just yesterday.

I believe the music makes the scenes in a movie, but this time the scenes made the music. The songs choosen were thoughtfully thought out, but they are neither right nor wrong for the scenes they are played for. Knowing what was going to happen in the movie made it that more powerful. You found yourself wanting to warn the people that Bobby would be shot and he would not be the next president. Instead, you sit and watch people's lives unravel only to realize that the drama they are going through in their lives will not compare to the sorrow they are about to feel. This also goes for the viewers of the movie.

This touched me in a way I never thought it would. I knew going in what it was about and I knew what to expect when he was shot, but I didn't know the movies would cause me to shed tears. No movie save for The Elephant Man has made me cry.

This is definitely a must see movie for everyone. The movie shows the senseless acts of violence that plagues the country then and still does now. A man who wanted to stop violence was killed by such and those who stood behind him bared witness.
